‘Govt fails to deliver good governance’

Srinagar, Dec 18 (KNS): The opposition National Conference (NC) on Monday carried out a protest march against the killing of Kupwara youth and the power woes in Kashmir.
However, the police foiled their march on way near CID office TRC.
The protesters led by NC General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar and its provincial president, Nasir Aslam Wani assembled at the party headquarter, Nawai-Subah and marched towards Regal Chowk Srinagar amid anti-government sloganeering.
The protesters including several NC youth leaders were holding banners and placards displaying slogans and lanterns to symbolize the power woes.
Talking to KNS, Nasir Aslam Wani said that the government has utterly failed to deliver good governance to the people. “People of Kashmir are facing tremendous hardships as the incumbent regime has failed to stop the human rights violations in Kashmir. Kashmiris are being killed in and outside the state and the government is acting as mute spectator,” he said.
Condemning the killing of Kupwara youth, the NC provincial president said that the investigation must be done at the earliest and the culprits involved should be booked as per the law.

However, army had said that he was killed in “cross-firing” with militants during an ambush.
He further said that the tall claims of Mehbooba led government proved hoax on the ground as their claims and the present situation is mismatching. “The Chief Minister during our tenure took to streets against power crises and now her government has worsened the situation, which was not in NC-Cong government,” he said.
Wani further said that the government has failed to provide electricity to the Kashmiris since Darbar move. “The government has left the people of Kashmir to suffer in this harsh winter and is turning their eye blind towards the hardships of the people. The people especially the students are businessmen here have been left worried as the absence of electricity has left their career and business respectively at stake,” he added.
Meanwhile, the protesters while trying to march towards Regal Chowk Srinagar from Nawai-Subah were disallowed by the police to march onwards.
