Jammu, Jan 29 (KNS): Castigating the administration for its failure to handle the snowfall, CPI (M) State Secretary Ghulam Nabi Malik has said the tall claims made by the authorities on their alertness have been exposed by the massive power breakdown, road blockades, damaged water supply lines and other difficulties faced by the people.
In a statement issued to KNS, he said that it seems that government has not learnt anything from the past experiences when the people used to face problems during heavy snowfall. The power system, road connectivity, drinking water facilities get adversely affected during this period. The government should have been ready to face the challenge and taken remedial measures to meet out the exigencies.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that people have been badly hit due to heavy snowfall and all the public utilities including power, drinking water, road communication, health came to a grinding halt in Kashmir valley. People suffering from ailments are not able to reach their nearby hospitals and medical centre due to heaps of snow on both interior and main road.
He demanded that immediate measures be taken up to depute snow cutting machines to the far flung areas of the valley so that roads be cleared immediately and any major untoward incident can be avoided.
Malik expressed shock over the deaths in snow hit avalanches in the valley and demanded compensation and jobs to the NOKs of the civilians killed. (KNS)
