Kupwara, Jan 29 (KNS): On fourth consecutive day, the commuters in north Kashmir’s Kupwara town had to face tremendous inconvenience as the authorities here have failed to clear accumulated snow from lanes and bylanes.
According to KNS correspondents, inhabitants of Malik Mohalla said that authorities left the lanes and by lanes unattended. “We are forced to stay indoors. No men or machinery have been pressed in our area for clearing the accumulated snow from lanes and by lanes,” Muhammad Jamal, a local of Malik Mohalla said.
Locals of Jamia Qadeem, Regipora, Sulkoot and other areas also complained that the accumulated snow was not cleared from interior roads. “The snow has not been cleared in lanes, by lanes and in the interior roads in our locality. It is first time in past three years that authorities have failed to clear snow from these interior roads,” said Tariq Ahmad, of Jamia Qadeem.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“It is risky to walk on the road. The roads are slippery and choked. There is imminent threat of road accidents. Authorities must clear snow to avoid any untoward incident,” said Faisal Ahmad, a commuter at Hyhama Road.
However, reports said that men and machinery were pressed in few areas to clear interior roads, lanes and by lanes.
Complaints of water logging were also received from various areas of town kupwara.
“The melting of snow is causing water logging. Authorities have not placed any arrangements for dewatering,” said Nissar Ahmad, a commuter at Iqbal Market.
Meanwhile, according to KNS correspondent, various localities in Kupwara continue to reel under darkness as authorities failed to restore electricity supply to these areas. (KNS)
