Srinagar, Oct 01 (KNS): An exhilarating closing ceremony of CRPF’s Athletic Meet titled- “Jagriti-The Health Awareness” was held in a cheerful evening at Bakshi stadium, Srinagar. The ceremony was presided over by DGP K. Rajendra.
The Athletics meet which was commenced on 29th September 2015 came to its culmination, displaying all shades of zeal and unprecedented fascinations on the faces of CRPF personnel. Teams and solo contestants from all Srinagar based units and establishments of CRPF (Srinagar Sector) vigorously competed for over 100 Medals in various categories of event.
Following were the Stars of the evening whereby Trophies were presented to them in various categories-
1) 73 BN CRPF – Trophy for being “Overall Champion of the Event.”
2) Recruit Training Centre, CRPF-Humhama (Srinagar)- for being 2nd in the series of overall Championship.
3) CT/GD Md. Arif of 25 BN CRPF for being the “Best Athlete of the event.”
While addressing the players, Media, CRPF Officers, J&K Police Officers and Officers of other Paramilitary and Civil administration, Honourable Chief Guest Shri. K. Rajendra, IPS, DGP J&K Police said- “Events like ‘Jagriti-The health awareness’ promote the spirit of sports and health awareness among the personnel of Armed Force. Such events also facilitate Force personnel to come together and make new bonds with personnel of other units. Such events diminish the factor of isolation and seclusion from the lives of Force personnel. Also it promotes the feeling of brotherhood and camaraderie among troops.”
Quoting the example of American Track and Field Athlete and four-time Gold Medalist of 1936 Olympics James Cleveland "Jesse" Owens, he narrated that “Medals are just medals, but the friendship that you earn with fellow athletes while playing sports are the real Medals that you earn altogether.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel” Listening to such instance of motivation, all the participants responded with the wave of applause to the Chief Guest. He urged that such events must be organised every year and in next such series of events, CRPF (Srinagar Sector) must invite all other Paramilitary Forces and J&K Police to participate in the event.
He also appreciated the significant contribution of CRPF and its co-ordination with J&K Police in maintaining Peace and Order in Kashmir Valley. He congratulated the winning teams and players for their success and presented them the trophies for their outstanding performances during the event.
Atul Karwal, IPS, IGP CRPF-Srinagar Sector expressed his thankfulness to Honourable Chief Guest Shri. K. Rajendra, IPS, DGP J&K Police and said that- “The sole purpose of organizing this event was truly accomplished, as great zeal and enthusiasm were observed among competing CRPF personnel in the event. The spirit, by means of which teams hunted for winning laurels, truly portrayed their level of commitment, team work and camaraderie amongst them. In future also, such kind of events will continue to entertain us, as it brings a sense of co-ordination and awareness about physical fitness among CRPF personnel.”
Harpal Singh, Commandant 61 BN CRPF presented the Vote of Thanks to all the Guests & Media persons and he himself being the Chief-Organizer of the event appreciated the sincere efforts his team and expressed his gratefulness to Honourable Chief Guest, Shri. Atul karwal, IPS, IG CRPF (Srinagar Sector), Shri K.K.Sharma, DIG CRPF Srinagar (South) and other Officers of Srinagar Sector for being the constant source of guidance and assistance in organizing this event successfully.
