Srinagar, Feb 03 (KNS): Terming the assault on Kashmir students in Haryana as ‘unfortunate’, the government on Saturday said that the students studying outside Jammu and Kashmir could become bridge between Kashmir and rest of the country.
Minister for PWD and government spokesman, Naeem Akhtar told KNS prior to the assembly today that such incidents have undermined the sincere efforts of the government.
He said that Prime Minister and Home Minister are so keen that the children from Kashmir should go to the other states and the students from other states should go to the Kashmir. “There is an exchange program for students but such incidents at the same time have undermined the sincere efforts of the government,” he said, adding that students studying outside could become bridge and bind between Kashmir and rest of the states.
“We give three to four thousand scholarships for the students to go to rest of the states. We have been fortunate so far as Home Minister Rajnath Singh has been talking personal interest in it.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelI am sure that he will have taken the note of this issue also,” he said.
The government spokesman further stated that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has spoken to government of Haryana in this regard. “There is a contact with Government of Haryana. We want that these culprits be brought to book,” he said.
He appealed the government of other states to ensure the safety and security of the Kashmiri students and businessmen. “I appeal on behalf of JK Govt to all the state governments that our student, businessmen who are spread all over the country should not be assaulted,” he said.
“We hope that there is a general feeling of empathy for Kashmir but some rowdy elements take law into their own hands and targeted these students,” he said, adding that this is very sensitive issue and should be taken care of. (KNS)
