Assault on Journalists: Concerned police officer removed, attached to DPL Srinagar 

Srinagar, Aug 18 (KNS): Senior superintendent of Police Srinagar on Wednesday ordered removal of the concerned station house officer, who was involved in thrashing of journalists' at Jahengir Chowk while covering a Muharram procession on Tuesday. 

Sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the SHO of the concerned police station has been transferred and has been attached to DPL Srinagar after DGP Dilbag Singh directed SSP Srinagar to take immediate action against the erring police officer for thrashing journalists. 

They said that several other officers including SHO's and in charge officers of police posts in Srinagar have been either transferred or attached. 

On Tuesday, Police had resorted to lathi-charge on journalists while covering a Muharram procession in Srinagar, following which DGP directed SSP Srinagar to take immediate action against the erring police officer. 

Earlier today, Jammu and Kashmir police on its official Twitter handle said that DGP J&K Dilbag Singh took a serious view of undesirable behaviour with some media men in Srinagar yesterday.
