Srinagar, Aug 14 (KNS): Dozens of people including Dukhtaran-e-Milat Chairperson Asiya Andrabi were on Sunday injured in day long clashes in different parts of Kashmir valley’.
As per reports received by KNS Scores of women, including chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Aasiya Andrabi, sustained injuries when forces fired teargas shells to quell all- women march in south Kashmir’s Tral town on Sunday.
Raising pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans, the women were seen carrying green and Pakistani flags.
Reports said that Andrabi had managed to reach the town to lead the rally.
In Soibugh area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district three youth were critically injured when forces fired at protesters in central Kashmir's Budgam district on Sunday. Eye witness told KNS that the two injured youth were identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Malik and Asif Ahmad, both 16-years-old, while the identity of another wounded youth could not be ascertained.
Witnesses said that during intervening night of August 13 and 14, some youth had hoisted Pakistan flags at Daharmuan, Soibugh area. They said that forces Sunday morning pulled down all the flags. "As the forces trampled the flags local youth started pelting stones, triggering clashes in the area," they added.
Witnesses said that during the clashes forces fired upon the protesters in which three persons were wounded. Police sources confirmed the incident. "The injured youth are stable," they added.
Nine people were injured in Malangpora village of Pulwama district after forces dispersed a massive Referendum rally early Sunday morning.
According to reports received by KNS the inhabitants Malangpora and other adjoining areas appeared on the streets this morning and started marching towards the main town. However, force personnel who were deployed in strength in the area thwarted the march by using teargas and pellets. Earlier, the joint separatist leadership on Thursday extended the shutdown until August 18 and as per their protest programme people were asked to organize Referendum March on 13th and 14th August.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelReports also said that similar rallies are also going on in some villages of Bijbehara and Redwani area of Kulgam district.
Witnesses said that Pakistani flags were also hoisted on many telecommunication towers in south Kashmir's Bijbehara, Qaimoh and Anantnag towns.
Meanwhile Police in a statement issued to KNS on Sunday evening said that the law and order situation remained peaceful in the most parts of Kashmir valley.
The police statement said nine incidents of stone pelting were reported from Anantnag, Shopian, Awantipora, Baramulla, Sopore and Bandipora. Restrictions under section 144/CrPC remained in force in the Valley. However police said curfew was imposed in Srinagar and in the towns of Anantnag, Awantipora, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Sopore and Bandipora.
Police statement said at Hillar in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kokernag, Anantnag miscreants about 200 in number tried to disrupt the traffic movement on Hillar-Kokernag road. They pelted stones on police and security forces. At Keegam, Shopian a group of stone throwers, about 500 in number pelted stones on Police Post Keegam. At Tral Awantipora protesters assembled at Shariefabad and Noor Masjid Tral and pelted stones on security force deployments, the statement reads.
The statement further said at Azad Gunj Baramulla miscreants assembled and pelted stones on security force deployments. At Bomie Sopore protesters, according to the statement, blocked the road and pelted stones on police. Police said at Bandipora protesters assembled at Nesu, Gulshan Abad and Mantrigam areas and pelted stones on security force deployments.
The police in its statement claimed that despite grave provocation at all these places the forces exercised maximum restraint to contain the situation and chase away the miscreants. (KNS)
