Ashok Bhan Greets Citizens on Samvidhan Diwas, Underscores Role of Constitution and Public Duty

New Delhi, Nov 26 (KNS): Supreme Court senior advocate and apex bar leader Ashok Bhan greeted people on Samvidhan Diwas during an event organised by the Asia Pacific Lawyers Group. Addressing lawyers, Bhan extended wishes to citizens across the world on Constitution Day and referred to the occasion as a reminder of the principles that guide India’s democratic framework.

Bhan said Constitution Day marks the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, a document that continues to direct governance and public life. He said the Constitution provides rights to citizens and lays down procedures, duties and limits for the government, while also placing responsibilities on the people to follow the rule of law and uphold constitutional values.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said safeguarding democracy requires a sense of independence, unity and responsibility among citizens, along with the choice of representatives who hold firm belief in constitutional principles.

Bhan noted that Constitution Day, also known as National Law Day, has been observed annually since the Government of India notified it in 2015, coinciding with the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

Across the country, the day is marked through various initiatives, including reading of the Preamble. President Droupadi Murmu addressed the importance of the Constitution and the role of institutions in maintaining its framework.(KNS)
