Handwara May 26 (KNS): Asha workers of Langate Block, Zone Unisoo of district Kupwara on wednesday staged a protest against the administration for not hiking their remuneration.

Asha workers said that they are working tirelessly to serve people.

"We are now engaged in covid duty, maternal care and many other assignments but we unfortunately getting only two thousand remunerations in return, this is injustice with us," they said according to KNS correspondent.

We want the administration to raise our remuneration to twenty one thousand so that we can fulfil our basic needs, they added.

The government is offering us incentives, but they are too low compared to other health workers, contractual staff of other departments, they said.

The health worker's who are dealing with Covid are getting 5 thousand, but we have been given only one thousand, it's sheer injustice, an Asha Worker told KNS.

They requested, LG administration, DC Kupwara, to look into their demands and hike their remuneration. (KNS)
