04 vehicles indulged in dangerous driving issued show cause notices for suspension of route permits. 


Pulwama March  (KNS): Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Pulwama today conducted a vehicle checking drive to streamline vehicular movement in the district. He was accompanied by Inspectors and other officials from Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Pulwama.

During the drive, more than 50 vehicles were challaned and a revunue of Rs  64000 was realised from offenders under various sections of Motor Vehicles Act whereas documents of 15 vehicles were impounded  and 27 vehicles were black listed.
Besides 04 vehicles indulged in dangerous driving were  issued show cause notices for suspension of route permits. 

Meanwhile illegal parking from main bazar to new hospital was also cleared to decongest the area for smooth traffic movement.

While sensitizing the drivers regarding traffic rules, ARTO said that violation of traffic rules leads to road accidents and fatalities. He said adherence to regulations can avert road accidents besides making commutation hassle free. 

Muazzam Ali added  that  road safety is not only an individual responsibility but a collective as well. He said that issues like rash driving, use of mobile phone,  considering seat belt as a burden, unmindful use of beams during night can only be set right by behavioral changes and positive attitude. He said mindful and responsive driving leads to peace and creates a capital of values and  fraternity   in society  . 
He said that MVD department has embarked on a mission mode  to have a paradigm shift in driving sense among the commuters in the district besides creating good governance practices in the J&K, UT.

The ARTO warned the drivers to strictly adhere to the traffic rules to avoid any action from the department. He maintained that checking of vehicles would continue in coming days.(KNS)
