Srinagar, Aug 02 (KNS): On various complaints from commuters/passengers regarding overcharging and violation of SOPs Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kupwara, Mukhtar Ahmad along with the staff on Wednesday conducted an intensive checking of vehicles on various routes includes Tangdar-Kupwara.
According to ARTO Kupwara, main focus was on over charging and other offences.
During the checking of vehicles, a fine of Rs 16300/- realized on spot for overcharging from voilaters while documents of 19 vehicles retained during the checking , besides one vehicle (platform)seized under section 207 of MVD act and kept in police station Kralpora.
Giving the details, ARTO Kupwara told KNS that one vehicle was seized by the team at Tangdar Kupwara road and kept in safe custody of police p.
According to ARTO Kupwara, “the number of complaints was received from locals that the drivers of passenger vehicles and private vehicles do overcharging of passengers. During conducting checking, we fined the violators and recovered Rs 16300 cash from the traffic violators.”
Meanwhile, ARTO Kupwara said the checking of vehicles would continue in coming days. ARTO Kupwara told that group of commercial drivers were given awareness regarding road safety measures(KNS)
