Srinagar, Nov 12 (KNS): The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday suspended ARTO Kupwara and two motor vehicle inspectors on charges of corruption.

In an order, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), government said that the officers of transport department have been placed under suspension for their involvement in case FIR No. 09/2021 P/S Anti-Corruption Bureau Baramulla.

“Pending enquiry, the following officer/officials of Transport Department are hereby placed under suspension, with immediate effect, in terms of Rule-31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1956,” reads the order.

As per the order Mohammad Mukhtar Sofi, ARTO, Kupwara, Khursheed Ahmad Kanna and Abdul Hamid Bhat- both motor vehicle inspectors.

The order stated that Transport Department shall initiate departmental proceedings (RDA) against the suspended officer/officials in terms of extant rules.

“During suspension, the suspendees shall remain attached with the Office of Divisional

Commissioner, Kashmir,” it reads.

Notably, ARTO Kupwara and two MV inspectors were arrested on September 06 by Anti-Corruption Bureau on charges of corruption. (KNS)
