Article 35-A is outcome of mechanism defined in Article 370 of Indian constitution: Dr Veeri

‘Fiddling with Article 35-A will question accession of state of JK with union of India’

Srinagar, Aug 01 (KNS): National Conference South Kashmir zone president Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri has expressed grave concern for calling Article 35A for judicial review in the Supreme Court of India by some NGO, created mischievously for the purpose of creating communal divide and having an eye for polarized vote bank politics.
In a statement issued to KNS, Dr Veeri said, that Government of India must realize that any fiddling or tinkering with 35A would reopen the question of states accession to union of India & invalidate the legal link connecting state with federation.
“This article provides constitutional safe guards to the ethnic & special circumstantial interests of people of the state as agreed between representatives of state & leadership of country as envisioned in 1952 Delhi agreement, which is a sovereign agreement, defining the scope & nature of centre state relationship with respect to Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Any attempt to dilute the said article will have devastating consequences throughout the state & will also invalidate all the 40 presidential amendments through which several articles of constitution of India were applied to state of Jammu and Kashmir,” Dr Veeri said.
Dr Veeri warned communal & fascist forces to desist from taking judicial route to harm the settled constitutional interests of state else the consequences will be grave and lead to separation of state from union of India.
The detailed concerns of people regarding 35A has been discussed in details in the petition filed before supreme court of India as impleader in which continuation of special constitutional mechanism between state and federation must continue & further strengthen. (KNS)
