Army tight- lipped over vacation of Tatoo ground

Srinagar, Sep 30 (KNS): A day after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Syeed chaired his first Civil Military Liaison conference and asked the forces to vacate Tatoo Ground in three months, the Army Wednesday refused to throw light on the issue and said that whatever has been discussed in the meeting was thoroughly between the government and the Army.
Spokesperson of the GOC I5 Corps Colonel Manish told KNS over phone that though he is not aware about the meeting but probably the stance of the army has been convened in the meeting. “It is better to talk to northern command as the event was between northern command and state government. If at all any statement would come that will be from the Northern command,” he said
When KNS contacted Northern Command PRO Colonel Gosami he refused to comment over the issue. “You just note this number he will give you the detail as the official was the part of the meeting,” the PRO said.
However when KNS contacted Colonel Kakrey he said whatever has been discussed in the meeting it was thoroughly between the government and the Army. “I think there is nothing more to give you now,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
When asked that if the Army has agreed to vacate the Tatoo ground within three months he refused to comment over the issue.
KNS also contacted the Srinagar based PRO Defense Colonel Joshi he however did not received the phone call.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Syeed Tuesday asked the Force to vacate Tatoo Ground in Srinagar in the interest of public within three months or he will take up the matter with the Defense Ministry.
The Chief Minister also said the role of army in internal security of J&K is almost over and you need to focus on borders.
Chairing the PDP-BJP government’s first Civil-Military Liaison (CML) Conference at SK International Convention Centre (SKICC), Mufti made it clear to Army that they need to vacate Tatoo Ground at any cost in view of the fact that the State Government needs to build facilities for public there. “You need to vacate the Ground to pave way for the government to establish facilities for public there. We can’t wait anymore because we need to decongest the city,” Mufti had told the Army. (KNS)
