Srinagar, Apr 26 (KNS): A major fire tragedy was averted in Muqdam Mohalla of Langate in north Kashmir’s Handwara area early Sunday, officials said.
The blaze broke out at around 1:50 am at the residence of Dilawar Ahmad Mir, a Bakarwal by profession and son of Ghulam Qadir Mir, they said, adding no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
Indian Army personnel stationed in Langate rushed to the spot immediately after the incident and launched firefighting operations using fire extinguishers and a water bowser.

"The Army's quick action ensured the fire did not spread to nearby homes," a local resident said.
Authorities have advised people to exercise caution and ensure proper maintenance of electrical installations, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season.
The Indian Army remains committed to community support and service to the nation, officials added. (KNS)
