Army under the aegis of Chinar Corps in its ongoing endeavor to provide basic medical facilities to the Awaam, organized a medical camp for the nomadic people residing in upper reaches of Shamshabari Ranges who generally remain deprived of medical services, defence spokesman said in a statement.
Gujjars and Bakkarwals being nomads keep moving to far flung areas with their livestocks with no medical/ veterinary facilities. The Army has been addressing this issue of providing medical and veterinary treatment every year by establishing Reception Area Support Points (RASP) at various locations in the Shamshabari Ranges. This year also 12 RASPs have been established in South Kashmir at Lidru, Jawahar Tunnel, Inshan / Kokernag, Larnu, Wusan, Arapal, Dubjan, Aboham, Danider, D K Marg and Kogwatton from June 15 till October 15.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAbout 30,000 animals have so far been treated and provided with free medicines. Besides this, the locals residing in and around the areas where RASPs have been established were also able to take advantage of this camp by getting their domestic animals treated.
The humanitarian effort of the Army has been well received by the beneficiaries and will go a long way in further strengthening the bond between the people and its Army. (KNS)
