Army Organizes Mega Medical Camp in Remote Budgam Village, Over 500 Benefited

Budgam, Feb 21 (KNS) : In a significant outreach initiative aimed at bridging the healthcare gap in remote areas, the Indian Army's 53 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit, in collaboration with the Health Department, organized a mega medical camp at the far-flung village of Chalyan Choontinad in the Charar-e-Sharief tehsil of Budgam district. The camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 523 patients, including women and children, receiving free medical consultations from a team of specialist doctors.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Army to mitigate the medical hardships faced by residents of this tough terrain, particularly during the holy month of Ramzan. A dedicated team from the Sub District Hospital Charar-e-Sharief, comprising specialists in General Medicine, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, and Paediatrics, along with paramedical staff from 53 RR, provided on-the-spot diagnosis and free medicines.

Addressing the gathering, Colonel Nitin Sharma, Commanding Officer of 53 RR, appreciated the collaborative spirit of the civil administration and the health department for ensuring that expert care reached the underprivileged. "In the coming months, we will facilitate more such medical camps in the upper reaches of Charar-e-Sharief," he assured the locals.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also extended greetings to the community for Ramzan and acknowledged the support of Chief Medical Officer Budgam, Dr. Gulzar, and other health officials.
