Locals expressed gratitude for timely medical assistance

Langate June 05:(KNS) A medical camp was organised at Kutlari village of Langate Kupwara on Saturday with an aim to provide free medical aid to the villagers of adjoining areas.

 

According to a press statement to KNS, reads Kotlari is a remote village of Mawar Valley and has only one Primary Health Centre with very less medical infrastructure. Better medical facilities are available at Sub District Hospital, Langate approximately 20 km away. Lately, the local populace of Kotlari including neighboring villages stayed away from visiting Hospitals for their routine medical requirements due to COVID-19 upsurge.

 

        Based on requests from the locals and to ease out the pressure on the civil medical infrastructure due to the second wave of COVID-19 in North Kashmir, a Medical cum Veterinary Camp was organised by Army at Village Kotlari on 05 June 2021. Free consultancy was provided to all age gps. Quality medical care and medicines to the poor and needy people were provided free of cost during the camp which witnessed people coming out in large numbers. 

 

      A team of 09 Doctors including 02 Army Doctors, 05 Civil Doctors from District Hospital Handwara (Medical Specialist, Gynaecologist, Paediatric, Orthopaedic and Dentist) and two Veterinary Doctors from Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Handwara offered consultation and treatment for various ailments wherein a total of 354 persons (174 men, 96 women and 84 children) and 188 animals (94 cattle, 82 sheep and 12 horses) were treated. 10 persons also received COVID vaccination.

 

      The locals who attended the camp expressed their gratitude and thanked Army for providing them access to medical facilities during the ongoing pandemic and lockdown. (KNS)
