Army organises exhibition cum competition on National Technology Day in Kupwara

Kupwara May 11 (KNS):  With an aim to motivate and to encourage school going students towards technology, the army on Thursday celebrated National Technology day by organising Science Exhibition cum Competition in Kupwara

According to a statement issued here said that the ‘Technology is a powerful medium that can empower citizens of the country. To celebrate the efforts of Indian start-ups, scientists, industry, academia and engineers for bringing technology enabled development for New India and to motivate young students from the schools of remote areas of Kupwara District, A Science Exhibition cum Competition was organised in Panzgam. The competition was organised in two stages wherein in first stage, students from schools across the region were screened and 80 Students from nine schools from all over Kachhama, Lone Harie, Kralpura and Panzgam displayed 35 projects in the event. A number of enthusiastic students applied themselves, worked hard and took guidance from their teachers and came up with amazing science projects. It was encouraging to see a large number of girls participating in the event and talking about sustainable development, reuse and recycling.

These projects were shortlisted at school level and in second stage best 35 projects were displayed in the central event organised in Lunahare on National Technology Day. The students showed exemplary creativity, innovative skills, team work, planning, and scientific bent of mind. Projects were judged on various parameters ranging from their understanding of the concept, neatness of work, utility and oral presentation. The school were ranked according to the scores of their projects and books and cash prize was awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranked school.

Approximately 500 students including teachers from nearby schools were present to witness the event and to explain the basic concepts of science to the other students and marvelled at the creativity of their peers. The teachers and students thanked Indian Army for organizing the event for giving them such an opportunity of promoting the cause of scientific understanding and their contribution to nation building. 

For 2023, the theme was 'School to Startups-Igniting Young Minds to Innovate.' In line with the theme the event afforded the opportunity to students to showcase their talent and igniting their young minds to showcase some of their innovations and scientific concepts to their peers and teachers. Such events by Indian Army reinforce the commitment of the forces that they are  devoted to the cause of nation building.

As Kashmir prepares for G20 visit of foreign delegates, the event promotes women led development and technological transformation by spreading awareness of technology and sustainable development goals.(KNS)
