Army organises 3 day artificial limb fitment camp in Kupwara

Srinagar, July 09 (KNS): An Artificial Limb Fitment Camp was organized at Pharkian, Kupwara from 07 July to 09 by Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Jaipur in collaboration with Indian Army. 

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that 05 types of medical aid namely Artificial Limbs, Wheel Chairs, Calipers, Crutches and Hearing Aids were distributed among the locals.

“The fitment camp consisted of identifying civilians with genuine requirement of medical aid eqpt, setting up of artificial limb facility at Pharkian, molding & casting of limbs and customized fitting of the same on the recipients.”

It reads that those individuals who were found to have polio related problems were checked in detail by medical officers and were fitted with calipers, crutches & provided with wheel chairs, based on the severity of their deformities. “Detailed hearing test was also conducted for hearing impaired to identify aids that could facilitate better hearing for the affected.”

The statement reads that the fitment camp helped 750 persons with disabilities. A total of 11 artificial limbs, 17 wheel chairs, 05 Calipers, 08 Crutches and 35 hearing aids were distributed during the event. (KNS)
