Army organised' football championship in Boniyar ended; Bilal Memorial defeats Boniyar FC

Uri, Oct 25 (KNS): The 'Army organised' football championship ended in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday wherein Boniyar Bilal Memorial defeated his opponent Boniyar FC.

According to KNS, on 25th October the final match was played between Bilal Memorial and Boniyar Football Club at Boniyar High School.The local football ethusiasts made the event a celebration with a lively cultural programme showcasing local talent. A high octane contest further added to the grand finale of the event. The final was witnessed by a host of Civil and Army dignitaries besides huge cheering football enthusiasts.

At the culmination, a felicitation ceremony for the winners and conducting staff was organised which was followed by high tea. The Boniyar Football Championship garnered enormous support from the locals, who were highly motivated and more than forthcoming during conduct of the event .The tournament provided a perfect platform to the youth of Boniyar to showcase their sportsman talent.

However the locals expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Army for organizing this event and appealed for more such events in the future to nurture sporting talent in Rampur.

"The Army has been at the forefront in its efforts to promote games and sports in the valleyule. With an aim to infuse sportsmanship and camaraderie among the youth of Boniyar as also to channelize their energies, Torna battalion of Pir Panjal Brigade orgnaised a football Tournament at Boniyar from 16 october 2020 to 25 october 2020.The event generated immense enthusiasm among the locals wherein ten teams from the border villages of Boniyar Tehsil participated in the tournament", Army oficial said.

He added the matches witnessed a heavy footfall of the locals and a very high level of excitement amongst the participating teams.

"As the matches reached the Semifinals stage, the involvment of the locals reached new height", he added. (KNS)
