Army Friday claimed to have killed five militants when they tried to sneak into this side at Kanzalwan areas of Line of Control near Gurez sector in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Army’s Srinagar based spokesperson Lt Col NN Joshi told KNS that army foiled an infiltration bid in Gurez sector when a group of militants were spotted trying to sneak this part post midnight.
He said that operation was still going on and army has recovered five AK- 47 riffles, one RPG and one UBGL from the operation site. “We have killed five militants so far. Operation is still going on as there are more militants present in the area,” Joshi told KNS, adding that no injury or causality of any army personnel was reported.
In an official statement issued to KNS, Army said that five militants were killed by the Army while they were trying to infiltrate across the LoC in Gurez Sector.
“The alert soldiers thus effectively foiled the infiltration bid. First contact with the terrorists was established late night just as they crossed the LoC, after which an intense gunfight ensued, resulting in elimination of two militants.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe rest took cover in the rocks and bushes. After a deliberate operation by the Army till today afternoon, three more terrorists were eliminated taking the number of eliminated terrorists to five along with recovery of huge cache of war like stores which includes five AK- 47 Rifles, 1 RPG and 1 UBGL” reads a statement.
It furthers said that the Army is continuing to search and sanitise the area to ensure safety and security of the Awaam.
Meanwhile, SSP Bandipora Muhammad Shabir told KNS that five militants have been killed in Gurez sector. He said that the operation started when a group of militants tried to infiltrate into this part last night, “Operation is still going on and police is yet retrieve the bodies, they may reach to the Bandopira headquarter a day after tomorrow,” he said.
He said that due to the hilly and mountainous nature of the operation site, it was difficult for the police to retrieve bodies soon.
