Srinagar, Mar 5 (KNS): Army today said that it has inducted 242 trained youth from Jammu and Kashmir into Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry regiment at Rangreth here.
PRO (Def) Srinagar, Col NN Joshi in a statement to KNS said these new recruits were pipped by parents and Lt Gen Satish Dua, Chinar Corps Commander, who recently assumed charge of 15th Colonel of the Regiment.
“The new recruits held a passing out parade in presence of their parents, relatives and Corps Commander,” Joshi said.
He said that after strenuous training regimen of eleven months, the latest batch of recruits of 103 Course Serial, today put up an impressive display of Passing out Parade at the majestic Bana Singh Parade Ground here.

“He also praised their contribution in encouraging more youth from J&K to come forward to join security forces and even highlighted the vital role played by their parents in motivating their children and wards to join this noble profession.”
Lt General Dua also presented awards to the meritorious recruits who excelled in various facets of training.
“Recruit Rajiv Sharma was awarded the ‘Shere-e-Kashmir Sword of Honour’ for being adjudged ‘Overall Best Recruit’. The ‘Chewang Rinchen Medal’ was received by Recruit Iqbal Mohd Baba of Baramulla for being adjudged ‘Best in Firing’ and Recruit Aamir Mushtaq of Bandipora bagged the ‘Bana Singh Medal’ for being Best in Drill,” the PRO said.
