Army flags off tour for ‘moulvies’

Srinagar, Nov 1 (KNS): Army Sunday said that it flagged off 14 days educational and motivational tour for 20 “maulvies” and elders of Rafiabad area of Baramulla district from Watergam.
A defence spokesman said that the tour to Jammu, Srinagar, Delhi and Ajmer was flagged off by Maj Gen Asit Mistry, Kilo Force Commander.
“This goodwill initiative aims at creating consciousness, awareness and motivation amongst the elders by exposing them to the rich and varied culture of our nation. Most of the tour participants will cross Srinagar and travel beyond Banihal tunnel for the first time,” he said.
He said during the tour they will be visiting various tourist places such as Bag-e- Bahu floriculture garden at Jammu, India Gate, Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid, Rashtrapati Bhawan, DLF Mall, Metro Ride at Delhi and Dargah Sharif, Durga Mata Mandir, Miraj Cinema, Puskar lake, Ropangarh Fort and Tanagarh fort at Ajmer.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Interaction with prominent civilians and maulvies of other states is also planned at Delhi and Ajmer. Mushtaq Ahmad Najar (Tour participant) son of Ghulam Mohd Najar of Watergam remarked that such tours help in fostering brotherhood and creating awareness of our country's multi faced identity,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman reported Bilal Ahmad Shah of Nadihal, who is also a participant, as saying “this gesture by the Army is a proof of good relations and trust which exists between the locals and the Army.”
