Kupwara Jan 14 (KNS) ; In a swift humanitarian response, the Indian Army has provided critical assistance to several families in Karnah, Kupwara, after a major fire ravaged residential houses and cattle sheds in the area. The aid was delivered under the Army’s flagship civic initiative, Project Sadbhavana.
The fire, which broke out suddenly during the night, was brought under control through a coordinated effort by the Indian Army and the Fire & Emergency Services, preventing its spread and averting potential casualties. After the flames were extinguished, Army personnel extended their support by distributing essential ration and relief materials to the affected households.
The relief packages included staple food items such as atta, rice, sugar, edible oil, and milk, along with other daily necessities, providing crucial immediate support in the initial phase of recovery.

Speaking to the media, the fire-affected families expressed profound gratitude for the Army’s intervention. They described how the sudden inferno had completely destroyed their homes and livestock shelters, resulting in significant loss of property and livestock.
“Without the Army’s timely help, the fire could have spread throughout the village and endangered many lives,” one affected resident stated. “The soldiers worked tirelessly through the night to control the fire and assist us.”
The families added that the provision of food and essential supplies had brought them substantial relief and renewed hope. They extended special thanks to the Shakti Vijay Brigade for standing with them in a moment of crisis, noting that such support reinforces their trust and pride in the Army’s commitment to the local populace.
