Chowikibal, Jan 6 (KNS): Army today said that as a run up to the forthcoming Chinar Corps Centenary and Army Day celebrations on 12 & 15 January respectively, Army conducted a series of health related events from 31 Dec to 05 Jan 2016 at Chowkibal.
An army spokesman said in a statement to KNS, the highlights of the events were the debate/ drawing competitions for the children/ youth of Chowkibal and other neighboring villages and conduct of health awareness camps for the AWAM.
“A total of 104 children participated with great zeal and enthusiasm and prizes were distributed to the deserving children in the end. The event helped in spreading awareness amongst the children and youth regarding the importance of maintaining a healthy and hygienic lifestyle. A Debate Competition organized at Govt Boys School, Chowkibal on 31 Dec 15, saw heated debate on the health matters, where children spoke in front of a huge gathering of locals from adjoining villages.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelA special health awareness camp at Riddi was also part of the event. In this camp the Army Doctors highlighted the importance of a healthy life style to the locals, who attended in large numbers. During this, Dr Shafi, a dentist, sensitized the attendees on the importance of dental health / hygiene.”
“The locals appreciated this gesture of the Army. Such events should be held in future as well, said one of the proud prize winner, Ulfat Yaseen Mir of Riddi village. Some of the other prize winners were Sudaf Wani of Riddi village, Ulfat Yaseen Mir of Riddi village, Master Sahil Sadaq Lone of Chowkibal village, Master Sahil Hussan Shah of Chowkibal village and Master Irshad Ahamd Ghani of Chowkibal village.” (KNS)
