Srinagar Nov 24 (KNS) : All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina has expressed satisfaction over the 350th Shaheedi Diwas commemorations of the 9th Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, being observed both by government and non-government bodies across the country.
According to a press release issued ,Raina said that the nationwide Yatras and events organized in memory of Guru Ji’s supreme sacrifice signify the public desire to spread his universal message of humanity and religious freedom.
He appreciated the central government, along with the Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir governments, for extending strong support to the commemorations. “It is good that the governments extended their support for the successful marking of the Shaheedi Diwas.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelSince the issue is purely religious, it is important that politics is kept away from it,” Raina said, hoping that political circles will respect the sanctity of the occasion.
Highlighting Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s historical and moral legacy, the APSCC Chairman said the Guru was a true champion of human rights who stood firm against religious persecution during the Mughal rule. “Guru Ji played a stellar role in ensuring that a huge number of Hindus were not forced to change their religion. His sacrifice remains a turning point in history,” he added.
Shaheedi Diwas marks the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at the hands of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb for defending religious freedom and protecting humanity.(KNS)
