SRINAGAR, August 08:(KNS)   Apni Party Youth Wing Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday organised a one-day district level youth convention at Anantnag wherein Youth delegations from all its six assembly constituencies participated in scores.

The convention was presided by Apni Party State Youth President and Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation Junaid Azim Mattu besides whom Apni Party Youth General Secretary Muzaffar Reshi, Youth General Secretary & DDC Vice Chairman Shopian Irfan Manhas, State Youth Secretary Salman Bhat, Youth Provincial President Kashmir Khalid Rathore, Youth District President Anantnag Anees-ul-Islam and Youth leader Advocate Showkat were also present.

The Apni Party parent body invitees included ex-MLA and District President Anantnag Abdur Rahim Rather, Party Additional General Secretary and Chairman Municipal Committee Anantnag Hilal Ahmad Shah, Provincial Secretary Nazir Ahmad Wani (Dailgami), District Secretary Anantnag Tariq Ahmad Shah Veeri along with senior party leaders including Choudhary Abdul Hameed, Bashir Ahmad Wani, Gazila (Women wing), Sheikh Zaffar-ul-lah, Ghulam Hassan Dar and Abdul Hameed Bhat.

Speaking on the occasion, Junaid Mattu said that the inclusion of Youth in nation building and activities that can usher in a positive change in our society remains more essential than ever at this present juncture.

“Today's world is being changed by the youth with their innovative ideas and a meticulous understanding of our socio-political and economical problems. May it be in the field of technological advancements or politics, youth have proved themselves to be a positive agent of change. So, I firmly believe that if this gifted section of our society, who posses the nerves of steel and muscles of iron, are given an ample opportunity to lead our society on different fronts, they will surely succeed in that and our society will be soon purged off its mediocrity and ill-practices that have eaten into its vitals,” he said.

Mattu said that this Youth Convention has broken the ice as such a program is being organised after a gap of six years in Anantnag district. He said that it thoroughly explains how our youth have been sadistically neglected by successive governments which eventually led them to become the easy victims of depression, anxiety, drug addiction and even resorting to criminal activities in certain extreme cases as nobody cared to provide a healing touch to them.

“Although our youth is gifted with utmost calibre, the lackadaisical attitude that has been adopted towards their welfare has made them feel totally dejected. Our youth needs motivation, gentle advice and an immense burst of idealism that can help them to overcome the problems in their lives. We can easily sermonize over the ills of suicide but unless we endeavour to understand the pain and mental condition of our youth, such cosmetic approaches will yield nothing beneficial on ground zero,” he said.

Mattu said that Apni Party especially its Youth Wing stands firm with the brilliant and adroit youth of the region and will ensure that the problems faced by them in forms of unemployment, lack of proper counselling centres, setting up of drug de-addiction centres and need for organising similar youth conventions on pan-J&K basis will be addressed on fast-track basis.

On the occasion, more than three scores of youth activists from NC, Congress and PDP joined Apni Party while vowing to strengthen the Party youth cadres in the district. They further resolved to put in diligent efforts for resolving the public grievances in their respective areas.

The leadership welcomed the new entrants into the party-fold while impressing on them to work unswervingly for the youth welfare through counselling and delivering a helping hand to those who have erred the straight paths by getting involved in various social evils.(KNS)
