Tangmarg, June 12,(KNS): In a strong demonstration of public resentment and demand for accountability, Apni Party leaders, workers, and local residents staged a powerful protest in Tangmarg today against the growing misuse of administrative authority and selective law enforcement in the region.
The protest was directed at the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gulmarg, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) of Tangmarg and Kunzer, and other officials accused of administrative irregularities, political bias, and harassment of the common people.
Key Issues Raised:
1. Discriminatory Practices in Gulmarg:
Protesters condemned the blatant double standards in law enforcement, where high-profile individuals are favored and protected while poor locals—especially ponywalas, shopkeepers, and small business owners—face harassment. Illegal accommodations and home stays for the influential are overlooked, while the poor are penalized unjustly.
2. Illegal Seizure of Home Stays:
The Apni Party questioned the inconsistent and arbitrary actions of the CEO Gulmarg, who initially granted permissions for home stays and is now seizing them without legal explanation, pushing local families into further economic distress.
3. Delay in Bhookha Scheme Permissions – Ferozepora:
The protest also addressed the bureaucratic delays in granting permissions under the Bhookha Scheme in the revenue halqa of Ferozepora, leaving poor families in limbo and deepening the socio-economic divide.
4. Ration Card Issuance Delays:
Hundreds of eligible families are still awaiting ration cards, depriving them of essential food supplies. The administration’s inefficiency in issuing these cards has triggered widespread frustration.
5. Political Victimization by Local Administration:
The protest highlighted how certain administrative officers are using their positions to target individuals on political grounds, denying basic services to those not aligned with favored political camps.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
6. ZEOs Misusing Authority for Political Gains:
Strong objections were raised against the ZEOs of Tangmarg and Kunzer for functioning like political workers of a particular party. Instead of prioritizing education, they are allegedly exploiting poor students by sending them to political events under the guise of school tours and exhibitions.
“These children come from daily-wage families, dreaming of becoming IAS, KAS, or officers. Their educational rights are being crushed for political optics,” the party leaders said.
The Apni Party leadership demanded immediate corrective measures and called on higher authorities to intervene and restore justice for the common people.
“We will not stay silent while the poor and powerless are oppressed. The law must be equal for all—rich or poor. If these issues are not addressed promptly, we will be compelled to take this agitation to higher platforms, including the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor’s office,” the leaders warned.
