Selective and Partial Boycott not a Solution: Zaffar Iqbal Manhas

Srinagar, March 04 (KNS): Apni Party on Wednesday organized a one-day Public meet at Dairoo in Shopian district. The meeting was attended by local political activists and public at large.

As per the statement issued to news agency-kashmir news service (KNS), The convention was presided by Apni Party Vice President Zaffar Iqbal Manhas along with DDC Deputy Chairperson Irfan Manhas, Advocate Tanveer Tak, political activist Ilyas Kumar, Youth Leader Peerzada Umer and Mohammad Shafi Rather.

Addressing the public gathering, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas said that progress and prosperity are subservient to peace in which violence acts as a deterrent force.

“For the sustainable development and progress of Kashmir there exists a dire need of peace. The economic development has been always hampered by political instability. However, that trend needs to end now and government must assure that peace and progress prevails simultaneously,’’ he said.

He further expressed his resentment over the decision of NC for boycotting the Delimitation Commission’s meeting and said such an action has compromised the future of the people of J&K.

“Since 1953 we have witnessed the calls of boycott from NC and other parties. However, such boycotts have always resulted against the interests of the people. Our party respects the autonomous decision making of these parties, but the serious implications of boycotting the current delimitation process would have, regrettably, to be borne by the generations to come,” he remarked.

On the occasion, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas also informed the public that he had requested Principal Secretary to the Government, Power Development Department Rohit Kansal to extend the date amnesty scheme for power consumers across union territory (UT) upto 31st March.

“I have requested Rohit Kansal ji to extend this amnesty scheme upto 31st March so that the people get enough time to benefit from this scheme. Thankfully he has acquiesced to comply,” he said.

Furthermore, he said that in a recent meeting with the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha under the leadership of Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, the matter of pending bills of various Rural Development Department contractors was discussed in detail.

“I have taken the matter of suffering RDD contractors from Shopian with the Lt. Governor JK, whose bills have been kept in limbo for years now. The Lt. Governor assured that apt measures will be taken to address their genuine concerns,’’ Manhas Concluded. (KNS)
