Forces inimical to communal harmony will never succeed in breaking age-old pluralistic ethos of J&K: Javid Baig

Forces inimical to communal harmony will never succeed in breaking age-old pluralistic ethos of J&K: Javid Baig

Srinagar, Oct 08 (KNS): Apni Party Chief Spokesperson and mentor Baramulla-Kupwara districts Javid Hassan Baig on Friday strongly condemned the recent spate of civilian killings which has sent shock waves across the social fabric of the valley.

Baig said such heinous and brutal incidents are extremely reprehensible which can never be tolerated in a civilized society. He said that Kashmir is known for its pluralistic and multi-ethnic history where people irrespective of their religious identity have lived on together for centuries.

Apni Party leader was speaking at the sidelines of a one-day Party convention that was organised at Bijhama-Uri in district Baramulla where Apni Party District President Shoaib Lone was also present.

Besides, various party leaders including Hamid-ur-Rehman, Mehmood-ur-Rehman, Javaid Ahmad Pandith, Munir Khan, Syed Javaid, Muneer Bukhari, Raja Javid, Mohammad Sharif Khan, Mohammad Aslam Khan along with many Sarpanchs and party workers participated in the day long convention.

Baig asserted that even a woman teacher was not spared by these vicious inhumane perpetrators who dedicatedly served the people by educating their children.

“Mrs. Kaur was our sister who gave her life while serving the people of Kashmir through providing her unstinted service in the educational field. Her sacrifice won’t go in vain and neither shall those perpetrators be forgiven who killed her mercilessly,” he said.

He also emphasized the need for maintaining communal harmony in these trying times and not to get trapped in the nefarious schemes of the forces inimical to peace. “Apni Party under the leadership of Jenab Altaf Bukhari Saheb has always advocated for the rights and aspirations of all the people of J&K without resorting to any discrimination on the basis of faith or language. However, many people are getting swayed in emotions but we must try to compose ourselves and realise that this is what the divisive forces aspire for. Our brotherhood and harmony will never cease due to the actions committed by fringe elements and in that lies their humiliating defeat,” he added.

During the convention, a two minutes silence was observed by the Party leadership and the people for the slain civilians. They also prayed for peace to the departed souls and expressed their sympathies with the bereaved families.

Furthermore, Apni Party District President Shoaib Lone also addressed the gathering while saying that all the religious and civil society members must unanimously denounce such acts of belligerence and display their unity with all the minority communities in J&K.

“Kashmiriyat can never be communal. We have lived, thrived and prospered together and I hope that sooner a time will come when those golden times shall return. Apni Party unequivocally denounces the civilian killings as our Party President has made it clear that nothing can legitimise the brutal attacks on civilians and perpetrators must be brought to book,” he said.

On the occasion, various Sarpanchs, Panchs along with numerous political activists joined Apni Party. They thanked the Party leadership for providing them with a viable political platform and vowed to raise the flambeau of communal harmony besides strengthening the Party cadres. (KNS)
