People yearn for a democratically elected government: Abdul Majeed Padder

Srinagar, Nov 29 (KNS): Apni Party on Monday organised a massive Party Workers Meeting at Damhal Hanji Pora, Noorabad in district Kulgam which was attended by scores of party affiliates.

The meeting was presided by Former Minister and Chief Coordinator Apni Party Abdul Majeed Padder who impressed on the Party workers to work diligently for the public welfare.

He said that Apni Party remains the sole relatable political platform in J&K that has rigorously raised the concerns of the people especially during the times when the traditional political parties opted for maintaining a vicious silence.

“Apni Party has always stood for protecting the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir & without any reservations our leadership pioneered to restart the political process by presenting the people’s demands before the Central leadership. These were the times when people had lost hope and were engulfed by a sense of insecurity and alienation. It was with the unstinted efforts of our Party leadership that job rights and land rights of the people of J&K were restored,” he remarked.

During the meeting, Padder also stressed on the need for a democratically elected government in J&K as the people are being pushed to wall and often their pressing pleas go unheard.

“A bureaucratic system can never act as a plausible substitute for a democratically elected government. The Central Government must fulfill its promises made with the people and initiate electoral process in the region along with the restoration of Statehood as an earliest so that the sufferings of the people are alleviated and the developmental works are implemented without any delay or fail,” he demanded.

He also urged the administration to ensure that an ample electric supply is maintained during the winters as spasmodic power cuts have made the lives of people miserable. ”It is the government's responsibility to provide basic amenities to its citizens and an uninterrupted electric supply remains imperative during cold winters. If there exists some faults in at receiving stations the administration must start gas turbines so that the dearth of electricity is positively curtailed in the valley,” he said.

The members present in the meeting hailed the numerous initiatives taken by Apni party leadership and further avowed to strengthen the party cadres at grassroots level. (KNS)
