Apni Party Chief demands clarity on detained Kashmiri students

Srinagar, Nov 19(KNS): Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari, speaking at the book launch of “Sardar Patel Aur Kashmir” by Saif-ud-Din Soz in Srinagar, stressed the importance of learning from history and respecting diverse viewpoints, noting that every perspective holds significance in a democratic society.

Bukhari as per KNS, said the book has arrived at a critical time and could help people understand differing narratives. He also addressed the recent incident involving Kashmiri students outside the Valley, describing it as “deeply unfortunate and highly distressing.”

While condemning the incident, he emphasised that innocent students must not face harassment during the ongoing investigation. “Children studying in that college are being called. At the very least, their parents should be informed about their whereabouts and the status of the investigation,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Bukhari noted that many concerned parents had approached him, unsure which agency had taken their children into custody. “If an investigation is underway, parents have the right to be informed.

Authorities should communicate clearly to prevent unnecessary anxiety,” he added, urging the Home Minister and local police to ensure transparency.

He further highlighted the confusion caused by multiple agencies being involved. “There are several agencies handling this matter, and parents are understandably confused. At minimum, they should be told which agency is overseeing their child’s case. Innocent individuals must not be troubled, and the inquiry should be conducted in a fair and humane manner,” Bukhari said.(KNS).
