APHC condemns fresh civilian killing

‘Expresses sympathy, solidarity with his parents, family members’

Srinagar, Sep 17 (KNS): All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) spokesman Saturday said despite continuous curfew, restrictions and killings of civilians by government forces, people were staging peaceful protest demonstrations and marches across every corner from north to south Kashmir demanding their right to self determination, which was gratifying keeping the greater cause of Kashmir in mind and no power on earth could stop Kashmiris from achieving it.
In a statement issued to KNS, expressing strong condemnation over the killing of yet another 15-year-old boy, Momin Altaf of Harwan in the indiscriminate firing by the government forces, the spokesman paid glowing tributes to the martyred boy and expressed sympathy and solidarity with his parents and family members.
The spokesman expressed strong resentment over Government of India decision of declining permission to the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) team to visit Kashmir and termed it has highly unfortunate.
He said besides violating human rights of the people of Kashmir, New Delhi had been trampling upon all political, social and religious rights by using excessive force and unleashing its military might to silence the resistance leadership and freedom-loving people of Kashmir and with every passing day, the oppression was getting more brutal and lethal and killings of civilians was becoming a routine.
Stressing that new highs were being recorded in the history of oppression and suppression of Kashmiris, the APHC spokesman expressed hope that besides allowing the team of the UNHRC, teams of the Amnesty International, Asia Watch and other international human rights bodies should also be allowed to look into the brutal killings of Kashmiris and take note of the rights violations in the Valley.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Urging these international organisations to take serious and meaningful steps to force Government of India into stopping the barbarism it was carrying out in Kashmir, he called upon understanding New Delhi’s ploy of not allowing access to them as it did not want the world to know about the genocide it was carrying out in Kashmir.
The spokesman said since July 8, around 90 unarmed civilians have been killed by the Indian forces while more than 250 had been blinded by firing pellets at them and more than 10,000 people had been injured, maimed and handicapped while the government forces continued to enjoy impunity under black laws and indulge in gravest of human rights violations.
Terming the ongoing situation in Kashmir as dangerous and explosive, the APHC spokesman said besides firing pellets and PAVA shells, the government forces carry nocturnal raids to make random arrests of youth and ransack the residences of the people to break the will of the people in general and youth in particular.
Condemning the continued arrest and solitary confinement of the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, arrests and house arrests of resistance leaders, Hurriyat leaders Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam and other Hurriyat office bearers and workers, the spokesman said such tactics had always failed and would continue to fail in future.
