Srinagar, Sep 20 (KNS): State Congress Chief GA Mir Tuesday said that it was better to initiative political process to resolve the Kashmir issue than sending more troops to Kashmir.
He said that political issues cannot be resolved through military might and present unrest in alley is not a law and order problem.
“Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is busy in seeking and deploying more and more troops in Kashmir. She has also deployed Army in south Kashmir. It was just a cup of tea for any senior police official to bring peace in valley if the Kashmir issue was just a law and order problem. CM must act as political leader and take political initiatives for restoration of peace. She must not resort to military actions against the public,” he told KNS over phone.
He said that both state and union government is busy sending more troops to Kashmir than taking any positive initiative to resolve the issue.
President PDF Hakim Muhammad Yasin said that recent visit by All Party Delegation (APD) to J&K proved to be a “futile exercise.” He said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh took U-turn from the commitments made, after returning back to Delhi.
“We had called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and others when we went to Delhi to apprise GoI about ground situation of Kashmir. They had assured us that certain steps and measures would be taken to win the confidence of people,” Hakim told KNS.
He added that government of India had assured that ban on the use of pellet guns against protestors would be stopped. “But in addition to use of pellets, we got PAVA,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“The central Government had also assured he opposition parties of J&K state that inquiry would be hold in the allegations of excessive use of force. No such announcement was made. The APD has disappointed people of J&K,” he said.
He added that invoking slogans raised by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee by state and central politicians are not enough till implemented and executed on ground.
“In fact, Uri like incident (attacks) occur due to Kashmir issue. The need of hour is to resolve Kashmir issue to ensure permanent peace in entire south Asia,” he said.
Speaking about the disassociation of Tariq Hameed Karra from PDP, he said: “We are not concerned about formation or toppling of state government. Our priority is resolve Kashmir issue once for all.”
Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami, CPI (M) General Secretary J&K, said that sending more troops to Kashmir would complicate the issue.
“APD that recently visited state was not prepared and had no agenda to talk on. They even uttered no words what is there to offer to satisfy collective demand of the people,” he said.
“GoI has already various reports from working groups, interlocutors and others. It must implement some of them on priority, “he said while replying to a query, adding, “The non-implementation of recommendations by these groups have created trust deficit between people of Kashmir and Delhi.”
He advocated two tier dialogue; with Hurriyat leadership and between India and Pakistan. (KNS)
