Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam condoles demise of its leading member Syed Noor-ul-Hassan Rufai

Srinagar, June 6 (KNS): Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam has expressed grief and deep sorrow  over the demise of its leading member, alumni of Islamia School, and an eminent intellectual, thinker and historian of Kashmir, Syed Noor-ul-Hassan Rufai.

In its condolence statement, the Anjuman on behalf of all the members of the institution and its incarcerated head Mirwaiz Umar Farooq termed the demise of Rufai Sahib as an irreparable loss for the people of Kashmir. It paid rich tributes to Rufai Sahib’s selfless literary and intellectual services to Kashmiri society.

The Anjuman said that Rufai Sahib had close ties and relations with the Mirwaiz Family and was a leading intellectual . Rufai Sahib, after holding a high government post in Jammu and Kashmir and later retiring from the service, carried out several  activities for the welfare of the people of Kashmir through Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam and other social and milli platforms, the statement said.

Terming the demise of Rufai Sahib as a great social and intellectual loss, the Anjuman ans its incarcerated head expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family members especially the deceased’s sons – Mr Abdul Qayoom Rufai and Mr Mehmood-ul-Hassan Rufai while assuring them that all the members of the Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam equally share this grief. The institution also prayed for Jannat-ul-Firdous to the departed soul and forbearance to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.(KNS)
