Srinagar, Jul 18 (KNS): Paying glowing tributes to Kashmir’s prominent religious scholar and its founding president, Mirwaiz Moulana Ahmedullah Shah (RA) on his 89th passing away anniversary, observed across Kashmir today, Anjuman-e-Nusratul Islam said Late Mirwaiz would always be remembered with honor and dignity who launched a powerful campaign against the illiteracy and preached Islam in its true and pristine form to the people of Kashmir.

The Anjuman in a statement said that the Mirwaiz Shah was a great religious scholar and will be always remembered for his historic decision of rising against the then autocracy and signing a memorandum sent to the then Viceroy for which he was subjected to various form of repression at the hands of the then autocratic government.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelIt said that despite all odds, Mirwaiz Shah remained steadfast till his last breath.

The Anjuman said that it was under the aegis of Mirwaiz Shah that the foundation stone of Anjuman-e-Nusratul Islam and Oriental College were laid and both the institutions continue to shine in the present times and are known for spreading quality education and knowledge including Islamic studies as well.

The Anjuman said that on July 19 (Friday) special prayers for the Mirwaiz Shah will be organized at the historic Jamia Masjid where Mirwaiz Umar Farooq will also highlight Late Mirwaiz’s contribution on social, political and religious fronts. (KNS)
