Srinagar, June 04 (KNS): An important meeting of the office bearers and members of Anjuman-e-Auqaf, Jamia Masjid, Srinagar for taking stock of the facilities for the people coming to offer prayers at Jamia Masjid, Srinagar during the holy month of Ramadan, that was scheduled to be held at the Anjuman’s party office at the historic Jamia Masjid and chaired by the Jammu Kashmir Awami Majlis-e-Amal head, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq was instead held at his Nigeen residence due to his continued house arrest on Saturday.
The Mirwaiz presided over the meeting that was attended by members and office bearers of the Anjuman.
During the meeting, the Anjuman condemned the continued house arrest of the Mirwaiz and said that the government was stopping Mirwaiz from discharging his religious, political and social responsibilities.
Making it clear to the government that the institution of Mirwaiz had for centuries been preaching Islam and during the holy month of Ramadan throwing light on the importance of Roza (fasting) one of the important pillars of Islam the Anjuman termed the house arrest of the Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq not only as undemocratic but anti-Islamic as well. Due to the continuous house confinement of Mirwaiz, his followers and supporters feel enraged which could give rise to a sharp reaction for which the ruling class would be responsible.
During the meeting, measures for providing all types of facilities to the people coming to offer prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar from far off places during the holy month of Ramadan were given a final shape.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Taking stock of the financial position of the Anjuman, during the meeting it was said that the record of the income of the Jamia Masjid Srinagar and the Halaal contributions of the Muslims from which various construction works on the properties of the Anjuman were also carried was being maintained and presented before the public every year.
On the occasion, the Mirwaiz directed the Anjuman office bearers and workers to discharge their duties responsibly to ensure proper water supply, electric supply, cleanliness, and furnishing for the people coming to offer prayers at the historic mosque leaving no room for any grievances.
During the meeting, it was decided that the Anjuman would ask the divisional administration to ensure proper water and power supply, smooth traffic flow, and maintaining cleanliness in the vicinity around Jamia Masjid, Srinagar during the hot summer days.
The office bearers and members of the Anjuman assured the Mirwaiz that besides helping in restoring the glory of the Jamia Masjid, they would perform their duties properly and ensure everything was in place for the people coming to offer prayers at the Kashmir’s central mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
