Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid greets people on Ramadan

Srinagar, March 24 (KNS): Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar has extended its greetings and best wishes to the people, especially the people of Jammu & Kashmir, on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement, the Anjuman also demanded release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from house detention on the occasion of holy month of Ramadan. 

It said that this is the first time in the modern history of Kashmir when the largest place of worship in J&K had been closed for long, and now for the fourth consecutive year the pulpit of Jama Masjid Srinagar is silent in Ramadan due to the continued detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Anjuman said that it was the 187th consecutive Friday that he was not allowed to deliver the sermon and offer prayers.

AS per the statement, people who thronged Jama Masjid for Friday prayers demanded release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from house detention. (KNS)
