Srinagar, Feb 25 (KNS): Scores of Anganwari workers on Saturday staged protests against the government for ‘failing to release their salaries from last eight months’.
The Anganwari workers assembled outside the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office Anantnag and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice.’
They were demanding immediate release of their pending salaries.
The protest also resulted in the traffic mess in the area thereby leaving the commuters to suffer.
Protesters said that the government has failed to release their salaries from last eight months. “We are facing tremendous hardships as the government has failed to release of salaries from past eight months,” the protesters said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that the government is ignoring their plights. “We are performing our duties very honestly but unfortunately the government is ignoring us as we are usually being forced to take streets to demand our salaries,” they said.
The women protesters said that it is unfortunate that the Anganwari workers in other states are being awarded with the bonuses and incentives every year but the workers in the JK are being forced to protest to demand salaries.
The protesters later demanded immediate fulfillment of their demands.
However, the protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
