Srinagar, Jun 11(KNS): Anantnag MLA Peerzada Mohammad Syed on Thursday thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving a stoppage of the Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag railway station, saying the move fulfils a long-pending demand of the people of south Kashmir.
In a statement, Syed said he had earlier urged the Railway Minister to provide a halt for the train at Anantnag in view of the growing demand for improved rail connectivity in the region.
He said the decision would benefit students, patients, traders, employees, tourists and daily commuters by providing faster and more convenient travel facilities.
The MLA also expressed gratitude to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad for their efforts in addressing public concerns related to railway connectivity.

Syed said the train halt would help strengthen tourism, trade and economic activity in south Kashmir while improving accessibility for residents travelling within and outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Describing the decision as a significant step towards development, he said the Vande Bharat stoppage at Anantnag would contribute to better connectivity and create new opportunities for the region.(KNS).
