Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNS): The establishment of Shams Faqir Memorial Institute of Sufyana and Folk Music as announced by the state Minister for Culture is the best new year gift for all the culturally conscious people of the state in general and language and cultural activists in particular, Adbee Markaz Kamraz, the oldest and largest Literary Federation of Jammu and Kashmir observed after the announcement was made.
From Alamdari Kashmir and Lal Ded to Ahad Zarger Kashmir's rich heritage in poetry has been preserved through the medium of music and transferred from generation to generation. The younger generation can be linked to our heritage only through the preservation of mother tongue and all the fine arts are the vehicles to carry forward the language which cannot be ignored.
Welcoming the announcement for establishing the Institute in the name of great saint and poet Shams Faqir, Markaz stressed for quick disposal of all the issues related to the promotion and preservation of Kashmiri Language pending disposal since past two years with the state government and hoped that similar seriousness will be exhibited by the top most political leadership regarding the same.
