Amit reviews Census 2027 preparedness in J&K

 Jammu May 4 (KNS) : Jammu & Kashmir Chief Principal Census Officer (CPCO) Amit Sharma on Monday reviewed the preparedness for Census 2027 with all Principal Census Officers (PCOs), including Deputy Commissioners and Municipal Commissioners, and directed them to ensure timely completion of training, formation of House Listing Blocks (HLBs), and robust publicity campaigns across the Union Territory.

 
During the meeting, Sharma took stock of key aspects such as appointment and registration of Enumerators and Supervisors, training of field functionaries, HLB formation, self-enumeration provisions, and administrative readiness.
 
Officials informed that the appointment of Enumerators and Supervisors has been completed in all districts, with details uploaded on the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS). Sharma directed immediate rectification of any pending discrepancies in registration to ensure seamless monitoring of field operations.
 
Reviewing the training status, Sharma was informed that Field Trainer training has been completed in most districts, while the remaining sessions would be concluded shortly.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe emphasised structured and uniform training for Enumerators and Supervisors, with focus on concepts, field protocols, and use of digital applications.
 
On publicity, Sharma directed district administrations to intensify outreach through hoardings, posters, mobile announcement vans, radio, television, and social media. He noted that public representatives, prominent personalities, and sportspersons are being engaged to promote Census 2027 and self-enumeration.
 
Discussing HLB formation, Sharma called for timely and accurate finalisation with proper demarcation and elimination of duplication or gaps. He also reviewed fund devolution and expenditure, assuring resolution of any related issues in a time-bound manner.
 
The meeting concluded with Sharma instructing strict adherence to timelines and close coordination at all levels, as PCOs assured holistic compliance in the coming days. (KNS)
