Srinagar, Jun 09 (KNS): Amid speculations of division in the PAGD, the leaders associated with the conglomerate today reiterated that it will continue to fight for the rights of people in a meeting which it called after six months.

 

Speaking to reporters, Farooq Abdullah added that the doors of PAGD has and will remain always open for everyone. “We have not been asked or informed about anything so far regarding the ongoing speculations,” he said.

 

When Abdullah was asked whether he will resign as Member of Parliament in case any unfavourable decision is taken by the government soo, he said, "I will douse the flames in the fire. I will not quit. But, I will fight for my people in the parliament,” he said.

 

Meanwhile Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami who was made spokesperson of the conglomerate today said, " We will not leave any stone unturned for the betterment of the people. We will use every opportunity for the welfare of the people.” he said.

 

 Dr Farooq also informed media that meeting was held after long time due to Covid pandemic.

 " our Declaration of 2019 is still intact. The Covid19 affected various sectors of economy. Hailstorm has also wrecked havoc to orchards."

He asked Govt to enhance financial assistance provided to the Covid affected peple and frame economy package.

 

Regarding Delimitation Commission (DC), Dr Farooq said, "matter is in supreme court and head of Delimitation Commission is also retired Judge and once we will get any reply we will move forward on it."

Replying to a question regarding rumours about different moves by Government, Dr Farooq said, " Whatever govt has done they will do."

 Dr Farooq also accused police of high handedness and arresting youth besides regular interruption at naka at starting point of Gupkar Road. 

 

Dr Farooq also said they may initiate talks with New Delhi if it gets any opportunity and have not closed any door.

 

The leaders of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) today held a meeting at the former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief, Mehbooba Mufti’s Gupkar residence after six months and discussed several issues.

 

The meeting which started at 5:10 Pm and continued for almost one hour was held under the chairmanship of PAGD’s president and National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah.

 

 PAGD leaders after concluding the meeting said that there has been no change in their stance on the declaration made on August 04, 2019. 

 

As reported earlier by KNS, the meeting was attended by Mehbooba Mufti, Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami, Hassnain Masoodi, Javid Mustafa Mir, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah and Mehboob Beg.

 

The PAGD, a conglomerate of political parties was came into existence in Jammu and Kashmir to fight for the restoration of August 04, 2019 position.

Meanwhile NC MP Hasnain Masoodi speaking to KNS said that the meeting was delayed due to Covid and hoped that with todays meeting, spcualations of division in PAGD will end.

He said that PAGD will continue to fight for the rights for it was created.

However political commentators say that the meeting was also called to discuss way forward in case elections are held early next year.

" PAGD did not have a meeting in the last 6 months. If we look at the context. HM chairs a meeting which includes outgoing and incoming CS, LG among others. Political commentators suggests that the main topic of discussion of the meeting was elections at the earliest. If Delhi is planning to hold elections, how does one view a PAGD meeting held after 6 months."(KNS)
