People disallowed to offer prayer at Jamia on Shab-e-Miraj: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Apr 13 (KNS): Amid restrictions in Srinagar parts, the authorities on the second consecutive Friday continued to bar people from offering the mandatory congregational Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid here in Old City.
All the four gates of the Jamia Masjid remained closed, witnesses said, adding that the people were disallowed to offer the mandatory congregational prayers there.
Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman and Jamia Masjid head cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also continued to remain under house detention today, Hurriyat leader said.
Mirwaiz on Twitter said that the authorities barred people to offer Friday prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid.
He also said that the people were not allowed to pray at the mosque even on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Miraj.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Curfew & restrictions imposed for second consecutive Friday in #ShehreKhas,barring Juma prayers at #JamaMasjid,huge deployment of armed forces,all gates of the historic Mosque locked down!We will not be allowed to pray at the mosque even on the auspicious occasion of #ShabeMiraj!,” Mirwaiz tweeted.
Earlier, the forces were deployed in large number in downtown areas to thwart any possible protests against the civilian killings in Kulgam.
“In some parts of city #Srinagar you will find restrictions today.While it is a cause of inconvenience, we assure these control orders are temporary. Your police seeks cooperation of citizens for maintaining order & peace .For any assistance pl dial 100,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted. (KNS)
