Srinagar, Nov 03 (KNS): Amid controversy over the planned exams for class 10 and 12, the state board of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday announced a 50 per cent relaxation in syllabus for the students scheduled to appear in the exams slated to commence from Mid-November this year.
While addressing a presser, chairman of Board of School Education, Zahoor Ahmad Chatt ruled out any possibility of deferment of exams for class 10 and 12 and said that the authorities have decided to provide 50 per cent relaxation in syllabus to the students.
“The decision to hold examination on time was taken to save the precious academic year of the students while the decision to provide 50 per cent relaxation to the students was taken by the authorities keeping in view of the sufferings of students,” he said.
He said that in view of prevailing circumstances in the valley, BOSE had formulated Assessment Scheme in Question papers in which papers have been set in way as to provide relaxation in the syllabus.
Chatt said that “every question paper will have Long Answer Type, Short Answer Type, Very Short Answer Type and Objective Type (Multiple Choice). If a student had studied only fifty percent of the syllabus, he/she will easily attempt all marks in a question paper, he added. In Language subjects, the Students will have to attempt only 50 marks out of maximum of 100 marks.”
Chatt said that the exams usually being taken in October were deferred to provide a bit more time to the students to prepare for the exams. “We can’t leave the students to suffer academic loss by deferring the exams any further as the class 12 students who have appear in the exams from Mid-November will be giving chance to prepare themselves for future competitive exams, slated to held after six months following their board exams,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
