Pahalgam, Jun 30 (KNS): After two years the annual Amarnath Yatra began on Thursday after the first batch of 2750 pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine from Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district, official said here.
An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the first batch of 2,750 pilgrims was flagged off by DC Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla, besides other senior officials from civil and police administration.
Notably, Amarnath Yatra resumed today amid unprecedented security measures after two years as it remained suspended due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The 43-day Yatra will conclude on August 11 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. (KNS)
