Srinagar, May 21 (KNS): Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari on Thursday paid tributes to slain leaders Mirwaiz Maulana Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone on their death anniversaries, remembering their political legacy and sacrifices.

Today marks the 36th martyrdom anniversary of Mirwaiz Maulana Farooq and the 24th anniversary of Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone.
Apni Party president also strongly criticised the administration for placing PC president Sajad Lone under house arrest to prevent from visiting his father’s grave to pay homage on the anniversary occasion.

In his statement, Altaf Bukhari said, "Tributes to Mirwaiz Farooq on his 36th martyrdom anniversary. May 21, 1990 — the day on which Mirwaiz Sahib was assassinated and several mourners were martyred— will always be remembered as one of the darkest and most tragic days in the history of Jammu and Kashmir."

"May Almighty Allah elevate the status of these Shuhda in Jannah and bless their families and loved ones with patience and strength," he prayed.

Remembering and paying tributes to Lone Sahib, Apni Party President said, "On the 24th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, I pay my heartfelt tributes to this great and visionary leader.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He criticised administration for placing People's Confrence President Sajad Lone under house arrest, Mr Bukhari said, "The administration should never have placed Sajad Gani Lone under house arrest merely to prevent him from visiting his father’s grave on his death anniversary."

He added, "Denying a son the right to pay homage to his late father is not only deeply insensitive but also inhumane."
"Sajad Lone is an elected MLA, not a threat to public order. Such excessive restrictions send a disturbing message to the people and raise serious questions about the repeated claims of normalcy, Apni Party leader remarked.(KNS)
