Srinagar, Dec 21 (KNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has asked Principal Government Medical College Srinagar to conduct enquiry into the allegation of medical negligence at Shifa hospital Srinagar.

According a letter, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS) that divisional commissioner Kashmir has asked GMC Principal to constitute a five member committee headed by him to enquiry about the allegations of medical negligence at Shifa hospital.  

As per the letter, 5-member committee shall be headed Principal GMC, including 02 Doctors from GMC Srinagar preferably one Senior Anestheologist, a Gynecologist) from L.D Hospital of Assistant Professor Rank, a doctor from SKIMS Soura & Deputy Drug Controller Kashmir as well. 

It reads the committee shall submit the requisite enquiry report with regard to medical negligence along with its findings, recommendations and concrete comments to this office within a week's time.

Notably, a resident from Anantnag has alleged that his wife was given overdose of some medicine due to which her vital organs got involved and she went into coma. 

Following the incident, the man wrote to Lt. Hi Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha seeking inquiry inti the incident and action against the doctors involved in this. (KNS)
