Air India Zurich-Delhi Flight Aborted Before Take-off Due to Technical Issue

Mumbai, Aug 18 (KNS): Air India on Monday confirmed that its Zurich-Delhi flight scheduled for August 17 was cancelled after a technical problem forced the aircraft to abort take-off at the last minute.

In a statement, the Tata Group-owned airline said, “Flight AI152 scheduled to operate from Zurich to Delhi on 17 August has been cancelled due to a technical reason, and subsequently due to night curfew in Zurich.”

The airline said it has arranged alternative flights for affected passengers and provided hotel accommodation, full refunds, or complimentary rescheduling options.

A passenger on board posted on X that the flight had aborted take-off moments before departure, citing an engine issue.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

This incident comes amid at least two flight cancellations by Air India in the past two days, including one at Kochi airport on Sunday when a Delhi-bound flight carrying Congress MP Hibi Eden aborted take-off due to a technical fault. Earlier, the airline had also cancelled its Milan-Delhi flight citing a technical issue during pushback.

Air India operates its Boeing 787-8/9 fleet for European routes. The airline, which returned to private ownership in January 2022, has faced criticism for last-minute cancellations despite repeated assurances from its CEO Campbell Wilson that all Boeing 787 aircraft have undergone detailed inspections and “no issues were found.”(KNS)
